St. Martin/ St. Barts/ Anguilla

This is our approximate sailing route from November 11/11-22. We began our journey in Oyster Pond, St. Martin. We visited Grand Case, St. Martin; Crocus Bay, Anguilla; back to Grand Case; Marigot, St. Martin; Phillippsburg, St. Maarten; Ile Fourche; and St. Barts.

We spent our first night at the marina in Oyster Pond. Dinner and drinks were enjoyed at the Dinghy Dock. The owner is a crazy guy named Ryan who serves excellent ribs and a nice house chardonnay.

Anguilla looked beautiful from the water with miles and miles of powdery white sand beaches. We anchored in Crocus Bay one night where we had a very nice dinner at Roy's. On Friday nights they feature special dinners and half priced drinks until 7PM. This is where we met Melanie and Michel from Calgary who are starting a year and a half journey to possibly Vancouver, B.C. in their 34 -foot sailboat.

Grand Case, St. Martin by far our favorite stop on our trip. Beautiful beach, good snorkeling, a calm anchorage, and fantastic food (see below)

L'Auberge Gourmande elegant with superb French food. Standouts include Foi Gras with a matching sauterne, pork filet stuffed with apricots and walnuts in a red wine reduction sauce. The sole Menuiere was delicate and delicious. Excellent wine list with a very nice house chardonnay and merlot. We visited them twice. The manager's name is Christof.

Bombay Brasserie excellent Indian food in this very French town.....chicken makanwali, saag paneer, raita, garlic naan....all very very good and inexpensive.

Brasserie des Illes where the locals dine...huge portions of French and European cuisine at ridiculously low prices. I had the Salade d'Italienne which had 1/2 pound of prosciutto di parma, sliced cantaloupe, ripe tomatoes with fresh buffalo mozzarella, anchovies, assorted greens with a very nice vinaigrette for $7. I could only eat half (we had the leftovers for dinner).

Le Bounty a small grocery with deli......excellent roasted chicken with herbs, incredible salads, and pizza (made by Italians) to go. We picked up something everyday from this store. The owners are very nice. The store is located on the west end of town next to the Pharmacy.

Lauren and Lorenzo, the proprietors of La Case a Rhums. Very nice people with a lovely restaurant adjacent to the dinghy dock. We saw them everyday we were in Grand Case (6 nights). I miss them already.
